Welcome to Shit Might Happen.

Not doomsday bunker prepping. Not influencer survivalist grift. Just…modern resilience for the rest of us.

We’re not here to sell you a flame-throwing drone or make you feel like garbage for not canning your own goat milk. We’re here because the world is weird, unstable, and increasingly expensive. And maybe, just maybe, it’s smart to have a plan that doesn’t suck.

This space exists for people who:

  • Live in apartments, cities, or suburbs
  • Don’t have a wood stove or a bug-out ranch in Montana
  • Want to be self-reliant without going full conspiracy
  • Are juggling jobs, kids, burnout, or just not knowing where the hell to start

What This Site Will Never Do:

  • Promote fear or conspiracy nonsense
  • Slap big red numbers in article titles to scare you into buying crap
  • Shill for products without telling you
  • Preach politics at you (you get enough of that already)
  • Question the reality of climate change or push magical thinking

Who This Is For:

  • The people who check the news, sigh deeply, and think, “Maybe I should buy a water filter…?”
  • The people who want to feel a little more capable, even if they don’t have time to learn bushcraft on weekends
  • The ones who know they should do something… but don’t know where to start

Selfishly, I made this site for me, Megan Carriker. I want to be more prepared. I’m a mom in a suburb. I don’t own acreage or any mason jars. I wanted a resource for myself that I could share with others. and where I can curse to my heart’s content. So here it is!

You don’t have to be perfect.

You don’t even have to be consistent.

You just have to give a damn and take the first step.

(Because hoping for the best is not a plan.)
